Ghettoblast returns to Manchester for a night of truly dynamic and
infectious electronic and audiovisual experimentation, joining forces with
Vmanevents to host a special Skam event, which will be headlined by
Freeform, Quinoline Yellow and Ghettoblast’s own Domestication of the Dog.
That, however, is only the beginning, also featured on this hugely
impressive line up are the likes of Rhythmik, Scrubber Fox and resident DJs,
amongst new additions to the Ghettoblast live roster.

This promises to be without doubt, a must attend night of truly
groundbreaking music and visual art.

Artist Bio’s:

Freeform AKA Simon Pyke has a long history of releasing sumptuous albums on
a great many labels (Skam, Worm Interface, Quatermass, Warp, Musik Aus
Strom, Sub Rosa to name a few). Perhaps his best to date though is ‘Outside
In’. Layering his voice inside lush electronic beats and samples, Freeform
”demonstrates once again his incredible capacity at integrating elements so
diverse into credible pieces that instinctively adapt to any new
situation.” His live audiovisual show is a real treat.

Quinoline Yellow

Luke Williams’s early musical tastes were drawn from pirate radio stations
in and about London during late 1993. Early Hardcore and Drum and Bass
broadcast’s being the first form of exposure he had to electronic music. It
would be these sounds, which would pave the way towards further inquests and
interest into this musical form.
As an artist in his own right, Quinoline Yellow has represented Skam Records
at All Tomorrows Parties, Deselect, Wheels Instead of Hooves, Warp’s ‘Nesh’
nights and Skam’s own (unofficial) 10th birthday celebration tour.
Performances in Japan and much of Europe have also aided in exposing his
abilities. Early releases such as ‘LMW Motors’ and his ‘Cyriack Parasol’ EP
were followed in March of 2005 by his debut long player ‘Dol-Goy Assist’.

Domestication of the Dog

Under the alias of ‘Domestication of the Dog’, electro producer Ian Heywood
has played at some of the most vibrant and original club nights in the UK.
Having released a number of EP’s for various Internet based labels and with
a release due out on the ‘cocosolidciti’ imprint, he’s demonstrated and
developed an electro sound all of his own. This is music aimed strictly for
the dance floor.

Scrubber Fox

Scrubber Fox (AKA Gary Naylor) has been producing music since he studied at
college in the mid 1990s. Using as he puts it so well “allsorts of cutting-
edge technological techniques of wizardry to jam out some riffs, beats and
noises to blow your mind wide open and make room for a barrage of foxes to
run in and make you groove”. He has been involved with Ghettoblast for over
3 yrs and has played across the UK and Europe building up a solid reputation
as one the most exciting musicians working in and around electronic music
today. With a release on Skam already under his belt, and his soon to be
released debut LP on Musikexperience Recordings and an EP due on M3rck in
the near future, his performances are simply a must see and hear!

Remaining Artists

Also demonstrating their talent on the night will be Skam’s very own
resident DJ Rob Hall, having played everywhere and anywhere his skills
behind the turntables are there for all to see and every set is truly a
treat. The line up also features DJ Ghettoblast who will be fusing abstract
and cutting edge electronica with twisted hip-hop and anything else he cares
to play. The live skills of Rhythmik and new addition to the Ghettoblast
roster Ootheca, with firm favourite DJ Mike Corf and Voice of an Actress
hosting the events in the chill out room.

The Emperor Machine remixes

October 22, 2005

The Emperor Machine has remixed Daft Punk and Royksopp! Dunno when they are out, but they are supposed to be good remixes. You can hear the Daft Punk remix over on Beats In Space on one of the shows, it’s on the Stromba guest mix.

Vertigo – Time Machine

October 11, 2005

Check out the Vertigo – Time Machine compilation. It’s full of mad rock tunes as well as containing one of my favourite songs of all time. Ok, Rod Stewart and Status Quo appear on it, but there is some inspirational stuff on it. 3 cd set with a nice little booklet explaining more about the Vertigo label and the artists in the set. It’s worth it for the Vangelis track alone, well, I think so.

On another tip, the Andy Votel Vertigo mix cd is really good as well.

October 2, 2005

I got the new Howies catalogue through the post yesterday. As usual there are some excellent pieces of clothing in there. Sometimes I wish they were a bit cheaper, but I don’t mind paying that bit more as they certainly put the effort in. Please buy from them. They are one of those companies that are giving alot of thought to their products. Oh and the make some of the best jeans I have ever owned in my life.

Edan’s Biog

October 2, 2005

Edan’s biog on his website always cracks me up. Why haven’t you bought his latest 12″? The Cut Chemist remix of Torture Chamber feat. Percee P? Where is the Cut Chemist album? While I am at it, if you don’t own Beauty and the Beat by Edan, why are you reading this? It rocks harder than Led Zep at +8.
